Endo Checkup

Evelyn had her 7 month check up with her endocrinologist today.  She has these every 3-4 months, where they check her stats (height, weight, BP, etc.) and visit with Dr. Paez.  The past two times, she has had to adjust Evelyn's dosage because she is responding so positively to the therapy.
Getting her blood pressure taken
Her checkup today was great!  In the 7 months since she started (late January), this is how she has grown:
HEIGHT - started at 29.5 inches - now at 34 inches - grew 4.5 inches
WEIGHT - started at 20.8 pounds - now at 26.2 pounds - gained 5.4 pounds

Dr. Paez said that they expect about 4 inches of growth across the first year - so she is definitely ahead of the curve in that respect!  She is actually finally back on the growth charts for weight, and just under them for height.  She definitely looks like she fits in with her friends now, even though she is still the smallest of them.

Over the past year or so of going to Driscoll for various doctor appointments, Evelyn has always wanted to play on this playground - but it's been under construction forever.
She finally got to play on it today!
It's exciting to see her growing so much!  I await the day that Dr. Paez is stumped because she is growing too fast...and we see evidence of her complete healing here on earth!

Hibachi Grill

We took the girls to a Hibachi grill tonight - it was Lillian's first Hibachi experience.  The night started off with a little too much excitement when the table next to us had a fire.  Like a legitimate too much oil with the flame on the grill so the flame spread to the floor.  It was enough of a scare that we moved the girls away from our table, too.  A little crazy!
Evelyn watching our chef (who was not the fire one)
Mommy and Lillian watching
Our flame - that stayed on the grill! - the girls loved it!
Evelyn trying to use chopsticks
It's always fun to observe them watch everything that is going on at places like this - the wonder in their eyes with a twinkle of fear is priceless!

Backyard Swimming

Today was so hot (OK, every day is...), but it definitely called for some swimming in the back yard!
The girls figured out how to drink from the hose...a childhood milestone

Time for some popcicles!

Lilly's First Dentist Appointment

Today was dentist appointment day - and it was Lillian's first time!  We really like the girls' dentist - as well as the staff there - very kid focused and they help keep the girls entertained to keep their mind off the uneasy dentist feelings!
Evelyn, who insisted on wearing her boots, was the hit of the office...

Time for some x-rays!
Now it's Lillian's turn!
Unlike her sister at this age, this one loves to brush her teeth!

Our Little Soccer Player

Every time we drive into the driveway, Evelyn asks if she can play a game.  What she means is soccer.  She loves kicking the ball around in our culdesac.  This particular night, it was only 110* out so we opted to let her play for a while!
"This is my soccer ball."

Love this picture!
Daddy and Lilly cheering us on!
Ugh. Only about 2 more months of crazy hot and mosquitoes, then we can actually be outside for more than 3.7 seconds!

One Last Swimming Day

We are nearing the end of "summer" in south Texas.  And by that I mean that the city thinks that since it's Labor Day, the pools can't be open any more.  This always baffles me as we are still sitting at 100+ degrees and even in Colorado, we would stay open on weekends through September most years.  It's dumb, really.  But, alas, this was the last weekend our favorite pool in the area was going to be open.  We invited Amber (the girls' nanny) and Stephen (her husband) to come with us since the pool is really close to where they live.  Here are some pictures of the fun!

I am amazed at how much Evelyn developed her swimming skills over the course of the summer.  She went from barely wanting to put her face in the water to diving for sticks on her own (with no goggles because her Mom is a former swimming instructor who hated it when kids were afraid to open their eyes under water...sorry, kid!).

doTERRA Love

Have I mentioned my love affair with doTERRA essential oils yet?  I heart them.  A lot.  This is just one of many reasons why...

We have a small corner shelf in our living room that has some picture frames on it.  One night while I was making dinner, Lillian crawled over to it and pulled one of the frames on top of her head.  (Of course, it was the metal one with a pointy corner that gouged right into her head.) :-(  I was bleeding pretty bad and immediately was swollen and bruising.  I put some helichrysm, frankincense, and lavender on it - cleaned it up - then applied them again several times over the rest of the day.  The picture on the right was the next day, about 18 hours later.  I couldn't believe it!  It was like she just had a little scratch.  doTERRA for the win (again)!

Painting Fun

This was Lillian's first experience with painting...I'm such a bad Mom, Amber actually did this with her! :-)  Another reason we love Amber!
Some pictures of the fun and clean up!

Camping with Daddy

Dan has wanted to go camping with Evelyn for a long time.  But, being in stupid south Texas, it's like 90+ overnight and who wants to sleep in that (who can sleep in that?!).  So we figured out that our tent could barely fit in our living room and set it up in there!
Getting some help from the littles
Spaghetti dinner before movie and camping
"Mom - I'm messy, too!"
Reading some books before bedtime
Night night!
OK, Mom..enough with the pictures...
Lilly wanted in on the fun in the morning!
They had so much fun they did it again on Saturday night.  Someday we'll get to where we can actually go camping and not sweat all night...or have rattlesnakes outside our tent!

July Growth

Evelyn had another month of crazy growth in July!

Here are her current stats:
33.75 inches (grew 3/4 of an inch)
25.6 pounds (gained .8 pounds)
Is in between size 6 and 7 shoes (depends on the shoe)
This picture shows February 1st (about a week after we started therapy), July 1, and today
This picture is what is really crazy to me...
My thumb is July of 2013, my index finger is when we started GHT, and my middle finger is today.
In just over 6 months of GHT, she has grown 3.75 inches, gained 4.2 pounds, and moved from size 4 to (almost) size 7 shoes.  I know she's growing, but this is just crazy!  Sometimes I sit and look at her on our video monitor and can't believe how long her legs are.  Sigh.  So happy that she is growing, but it makes me want to bawl!
