Two Month Appointment

Evelyn had her two month appointment a little late this month because her pediatrician was on vacation when she turned two months.  Other than the onslaught of vaccinations she had to have, it went well.  Her pediatrician recommended a new gripe water and started her on probiotics in an effort to curtail the gas she has been having.  Over the last 3-4 weeks, she usually has 3-4 spells a day where she is scream-crying while passing really loud (and really smelly) gas.  As soon as she gets it all out, she's as happy as can be!  I went off dairy for a while, and that didn't help.  Her pediatrician said it is likely not any kind of food sensitivity or food allergy, because we haven't been able to link it to any particular food that triggers it (dairy was the only thing I consistently had...).  Hopefully these new steps will help!  I hate watching her be in pain!

Her 2 month statistics:
Weight: 10 pounds, 1 ounce (1 pound, 4 ounces since 1 month) - 45th percentile
Length: 21 inches (1/2 inch since 1 month) - 5th percentile
Head Circumference: 39 cm (3cm since 2 wks) - 50th percentile

With that height, I'm going to go out on a limb and say she's not going to be the basketball star her Daddy and Uncle Mike are hoping for...unless she's playing point guard!

Getting Dressed

This is what happens when your Dad dresses you for the day...
And this is what happens when your Dad dresses himself for the day...
This was actually Dan and our friend, David, posing before their video shoot.  Our Life Group at church is putting together an event called, "In It to Win It" - based on the NBC TV show "Minute to Win It".  This night we were shooting video to create four promotional videos for the event to be shown at church over the next few weeks leading up to the event.

Here's the first video! :-)

Cousin Pictures

As promised a few posts ago...here are the pictures we had taken when we were home in Wray!  Evelyn wasn't cooperating so much on the staying awake AND being happy for pictures...so we settled for sleeping and being happy!

And some of all the cousins!

Our Little GloWorm

Remember those old toys called GloWorms?  (I think I'm spelling that right...it might be, Glow Worm).
They are actually a little bit creepier than I remember them being, now that I'm searching for an image on Google!

We have our own little GloWorm here!  We still swaddle Evelyn because it helps her sleep, especially at night where she nets a good 7-9 hour stretch most nights - Hallelujah!!  Dan came home from work today and got her up from her nap, where I had swaddled her in one of her SwaddleMe blankets.  He brought her downstairs and said, "She looks like a little GloWorm - she just needs a little hat!"

So like every good parent, we put a little hat on her head and took some pictures!  Maybe she'll find it funny at her high school graduation! :-)

We actually took these pictures right before she went to bed that night...poor girl, look at her tired eyes!  And her Mom and Dad are screwing around taking GloWorm pictures!

Fun with Cousins in Colorado!

This past week, Evelyn and I flew up to Colorado to visit my family because Dan was in Kansas City for work.  It was Evelyn's first time to meet her cousins on the Wisdom side and see a little bit of God's Country!  Here are some highlights/pictures from the trip!

My sister, Lisa, picked us up at the airport and drove us to Greeley so that Evelyn could see her Uncle Nate.  Lisa and Nate are on staff with Athletes in Action and Nate has been taking classes this summer so he wasn't going to be able to come to Wray with the rest of the family.  We had my favorite Greeley dinner, Roma...mmmmm...I'm drooling just thinking about a Nutty Idea caroli from Roma.

Gunnar liked her piggies!

Evelyn with Uncle Nate

After dinner, we started the longest trip EVER from Greeley to Wray.  We had to go pick up my nephew from camp on the way, so the trip should have taken around 3 hours tops.  We clocked in over 4 hours...from the longest wait at Taco Bell known to man, to having a new little one who thought she needed to eat, it was a long trip!  I spent half of it sitting on the floor next to Evelyn's car seat because she wasn't sleeping as planned...I guess she wasn't used to 4 monkey cousins in the car with her!

Grandad waited up to see Evelyn not crying (she cried most of the 4 days he was here in May...)

All of the Wisdom grandkids were in Wray at the same time, so Mom had pictures taken.  I'll post those once I get them from her! (click here)  It was fun to have all of them together, even if it was for a short while.  Gage got to stay in Wray for a few days while Evelyn and I were there.  (Every summer, the Buxman boys get to spend a few days in Wray alone with Grammie & Grandad...this was Gage's turn)

Grandad with Evelyn (again, not crying!)

Another reason we made the trip was so that Evelyn could meet her Great-Grandmother Eunice.  One day while we were home, we went up to the nursing home that Grandma Uni lives in to visit her and let her meet Evelyn.

My favorite picture...(good job, Aug!)

Heidi loved Evelyn - although she was a little stumped when she walked into the Broncos room (where Evelyn and I slept) and saw someone else in her crib!

Now she's sharing Grammie's lap, too!

Ben finally getting his turn to hold Evelyn - he was a very patient boy letting everyone else go first and waiting for Evelyn to be happy and not hungry!

(Gage loved touching her head...we had to keep an eye on this!)

Our last full day in Wray, we went swimming.  And by swimming, I mean we both put our swim suits on, then sat in the shade while her cousins swam!  It was a little too busy to have her in the water, and a little too sunny for her baby girl skin.

She did wake up after a while...
I think she loved being outside (something we don't get to do much of in Corpus Christi, with heat indices in the 100s every day)

And her Uncle Mike

Lisa...I'm not sure how we didn't get a picture of you (other than the first one where you can see your legs and arms...).  Guess we'll have to come back! :-)

All in all, it was a great trip.  Evelyn did great on the trip up...especially considering that we flew Southwest from Corpus to Houston and Frontier from Houston to Denver.  It was cheaper, but it required us to go get our bag and re-check in.  The trip back was a little less easy - she was pretty gassy, which means scream crying in the Dallas-Fort Worth airport.  I got some great looks.  She was asleep by the time we got on the plane, though.  The unfortunate thing there was sitting on the plane for 15 minutes with no power while the pilot powered down to remove a glitch in the computer system.  Did I mention it was 115 degrees in Dallas that day?!  Good times.  I wish Dan could have been with us, although he got to spend a night in the Prayer Room of the International House of Prayer.  They lost power that night and seamlessly kept worshipping from electric to acoustic.  I'm a little bit jealous.  But I got to see mountains.

This is How We Sleep...

Those of you with kids know that one of the most fun things about being a parent is watching your kids do funny things...
...like sleep with her hands up on her face like this...

She constantly makes us laugh or smile watching her smile at us and tell us her deepest secrets, but some of Evelyn's most funny moments are while she is sleeping.

This is from one of the first days we had her home, but until we started swaddling her again,
this is how she often slept...

This is her "I don't want to sleep" face...

And her "my tummy hurts, put me on my belly" sleep...

And her taking a nap with Daddy sleep...

Grandma & Grandpa Gaines

Grandma and Grandpa Gaines came down to Corpus to visit and meet their newest granddaughter.  On Friday Dan and his Dad visited the Lexington and fixed the tail light on my car that has been cracked for almost 3 years.  Saturday we had a yummy brunch at Hester's, then Evelyn and I stayed home for a quiet afternoon while Dan and his parents took a Corpus Christi/Port Aransas tour.  Sunday we went to church, our Life Group, and got ready for our trips (Dan is going to Kansas City for work, Evelyn & I are going to Colorado next week).  On Monday, Evelyn and I flew out in the morning, so Dan and his parents spent the day cleaning our house/carpets (what a great surprise to come home to!).  The three of them flew out later that afternoon/evening.  All in all it was a great trip - here's some pictures:

Belly Pics

Two days before Evelyn was born, I let my friend Jade convince me to take some maternity pictures.  Looking at these, I can't believe how big I was!  I know I FELT this big...but I think God adjusts your mind so that when you look at yourself in the mirror you don't see yourself as this big!  Here are some of the highlights!
