Marching Band Competition

Amber and Stephen took Evelyn to a local marching band competition tonight.  From what I hear, she LOVED it!  She's been talking about it nonstop, so I think it was a hit!  Here are some pictures Amber sent:

Apparently she was the only one in the crowd with a jacket on...it was about 85* and she was cold. :-)

Urology Labs

Today, Evelyn had her labs for her urinary reflux.  We haven't had to see her urologist for a year and a half, and the last time we saw him she had not yet been diagnosed with growth hormone deficiency.  When she was originally diagnosed with the urinary reflux he told us that about 70% of kids will grow out of it with time, so I was curious to see if being on the growth hormone therapy would be helping her to grow out of it.  We don't actually see him until next month, but we got the yucky labs out of the way today!
Getting ready for her ultrasound
She actually thought this was pretty cool (we had a really great ultrasound tech)
Next is the not so fun one, where they have to cath her and inject a dye into her bladder to see if she is still refluxing.  They take a video x-ray during the entire process to watch how the dye moves in her system.  I will say that it is 150% easier now that she is potty trained.  She cried when they cathed her, but then was pretty distracted with an iPad so they could get the x-rays and after we told her to go potty, it was done.  Last time, I had to sit out in the hall because I was pregnant with Lillian, and the test alone lasted almost an hour.  Today, we were in and out in less than 30 minutes - which included all of the set up/clean up.  The actual test was probably less than 10 minutes.  Thankful for that!
Evelyn and I in our x-ray gear!
She wanted chicken nuggets for lunch, so we went to Chick Fil'a to reward our good little patient!
We won't have official word of the results until we meet with Dr. Smith-Harrison in a few weeks.  The radiologist did give us some indication that the reflux is still present, so it sounds like it hasn't completely resolved yet.  We'll know more on the 13th!

Let it Go

After school one day each week, Amber and the girls play in the "treehouse" (aka, indoor playground/gym type place) with some other kids from Evelyn's school.  Today, Amber caught this on video...

We Have Another Walker!

Lillian is officially toddling around!  She's still working on the being confident enough to go more than a few steps part, but we're officially mobile on two limbs!

She's been walking with us holding her hands for a while, but she's not a huge fan of you making her just hold one hand!  She also has a little shopping cart and stroller that she loves motoring around on.  It's just a matter of weeks before she's going to develop the confidence to really go for it!  It's fun to see how different your kids are.  Evelyn went from this toddling over 2-3 feet to full on walking in a matter of days - maybe because she was so tiny!

Rainy Day Fun

We have had several rainy days over the last few weeks, but Dan is usually at work so he doesn't get to take advantage of the snuggles and playing in the rain.  But today, he was home and got to have some fun with the girls.
Evelyn has created this "game" - where you take a coaster and a marker/pen and tap the marker on the coaster.  She had Daddy in on the "game" this morning.
Lilly wanted in on the fun
Hey guys!
It was POURING later on, so Dan took one for the team and took the girls out to play in the rain!
I love this picture!

Lillian lasted about 5 minutes, but Evelyn would have stayed out there all day if we let her!  She was excited to get to wear her rain coat and boots and use her umbrella when it's actually raining!

Dancing Evelyn

Evelyn continues to LOVE Tippi Toes.  Just about every morning she asks if it is Tippi Toes day (yet, she knows that Tippi Toes is on Tuesday - working on some T sounds!).  I finally remembered to bring our nice camera to get some pictures!

Let's Pretend it's Fall...

This week was our first, sort of, taste of fall weather.  Or...when you live on the equator, it's the week that you drop below 100* for the first time so you start thinking about pulling out the sweaters, scarves, and boots.  Today was our first cold front of the year, so it was pretty rainy (still in the 80s, but 80s feels amazing after 100+ for 6 months!).

I had a half day at the spa that Dan and the girls gave me for my birthday this morning.  I had a salt bath, a two-person massage (which was, by far, my favorite!), lunch, a facial, and a manicure/pedicure.  I'll be honest, by the end of it I was done.  I think I'm just too much of a personal space observer that I didn't like people touching me for that long!  I'm weird, I know.  If I were to do it again, I'd do that four-handed massage and a mani/pedi and call it a day!  It was very relaxing, though!

I had started chili in the crock pot for dinner (because we are celebrating the possibility of fall), so when I got back Evelyn and I made some cinnamon rolls to go with our chili that night.  It's fun to have her at the age where she can help and really help (instead of make a major mess!).  It was especially fun for me because the recipe I use is my Grammie's, who Evelyn is named after.  Wish my Mom could have been here with us!
She learned Grammie Pete's secret - lots of butter!
(I didn't say these were healthy...)
Add in lots of cinnamon and some sugar...

Definitely one of those Mom memories you hang on to!  Thanks, Dan, for the spa day - Mommy enjoyed being pampered all morning while you wrestled the kiddos!

Storytime

On Wednesdays, Amber usually takes the girls to a story time at our Barnes & Noble.  For a few weeks, they were highlighting the book, The Day the Crayons Quit, so they had a cardboard cut out the girls could pose in, and some other activities.  Here are some pictures that she sent (which, by the way, is another one of my favorite things about Amber - she always sends pictures/videos through the day!).

This was actually at the mall play place - a big aquarium of fish that Lilly likes
