Harvest Celebration

I am not a fan of Halloween...you can read my thoughts on the holiday here.  This year I consciously made choices to stay away from the scary, fear-filled side of the holiday and focus on the harvest/blessing side of it.  This way, my kids get to dress up and be cute, but I also get to teach them about blessings from God and the reality of evil in our world.  It's a work in progress to be sure, but I felt better about how we dealt with it this year than last.  One of my best friends gave up the whole halloween gig this year and had a family night complete with copious amounts of candy, games, and movies this year...I think she may be on to something!
Evelyn's school had a costume parade in the morning...it was pouring down rain, so they had to do it through the hallway of the school so it was a little cramped.  I always wondered how they kept 10 2-year olds in a line to go from place to place in the building!
Lilly working on sitting up (she's so close!)
Our little blessings...a butterfly and Tinkerbell
(pronounced TinkerBELL - with the accent on bell - by Evelyn)
*sigh*
I can't handle the cuteness!
This one slept most of the time...but woke up for a quick picture!
Little miss independent...
...until it's late and she's tired.
Good thing TinkerBELL's Daddy doesn't mind a face full of wings!
She was obsessed with wearing her TinkerBELL costume (and Lillian's butterfly costume) the next day!
Our little pumpkin.
Dan told me it was a pretty lame design.  I like it.  Simple.

Sisters! (October)

Sorry about your neck, Lilly!
Showing Lillian how to hit the birds
It's fun to have a sister!
Evelyn loves that Lilly will sit in the bumbo and "play" with her now...
Lilly loves that she gets to be upright!
Another embarassing picture where our Mom made us wear the same clothes...
"I give baby sister a kiss!"
(which means I take out her pluggie and completely smother her mouth with mine)
Helping Daddy give Lillian a bath
*sigh*
"I paint baby sister's toes"
"I play peek with Lillian"

(you'll be able to fend for yourself soon, Lillian!)
"I tickle baby sister!"
Evelyn singing one of her story time songs, "Shake your Sillies Out" to Lillian.
I love how she gets frustrated at the end because Lillian tries to grab her hand instead of clap! :-)
I just love this picture...
Mommy and Evelyn playing peek-a-boo with Daddy and Lillian

October Random Pictures

Here are our random pictures from October!
Evelyn developing her yoga skills
(She did this on her own!)
Pipe cleaners, a little hot glue, and one happy princess!
Another happy princess...I just got milk!
The weather has finally changed a little where it's bearable to be outside (sans mosquitoes)
Someone's starting to break out of her swaddle
This is her current preferred method of sleeping
I love this wobble headed, I can finally (sort of) sit upright stage!

Evelyn is into wearing her "coat" (a hooded bath towel) and my shoes lately
(this girl is wasted on the south...she needs some cooler weather to enjoy coats and shoes!)
Lilly LOVES it when you massage her cheeks - for weeks, every time I would do this, she would start talking away.  sigh - can they stay small?
Evelyn loves wearing this owl purse as a hat...whatever, kid!
"I sit in the bath"
This was followed shortly by, "put Lillian in the bath?" - um, no.
Who doesn't love BBQ and a CapriSun?
The Princess on her throne...
We have added socks on the hands as gloves to the mix...
Seriously, she has a career in yoga ahead...this was at story time at the library
Because it's cool to wear your sunglasses and hat and hold Lisa...
Working on some tummy time!
(dude - sorry about my cleavage...just saw that - but the picture is too cute to not put in)
Hey - what's over there?
Pack me up and ship me off (just make sure I have snacks!)
Evelyn loves laying down on the driveway with Daddy to look at the stars...this night she insisted that Lillian lay down, too!
Yes, sweet girls, yes you are...

Pumpkin Carving

Up next was pumpkin carving!  I love how Evelyn is old enough to really enjoy this now!
First Daddy cut off the top (while she played with the spoons)
Finally, I can do something!
She wasn't real sure about the insides...
Lilly enjoyed hanging out with us
(we had to move it inside because the mosquitoes were so bad...seriously, mosquitoes at the end of October should be illegal)
We did the traditional "put the baby in the pumpkin" picture.
She would have sat here the whole night...she was totally chill.
Then Evelyn wanted a turn (one of the perks of being small!)
Love this one :-)
