Hawaii: The Zoo, The Aquarium, and a Proposal

Right around the corner from our hotel was the Honolulu Zoo.  We had seen it when we were out walking on Sunday and decided to visit it on Tuesday morning.  When we got there, we realized we were going to spend $28 for Dan and I to get in or we could pay $35 for a week-long family pass.  We figured with it being so close that it was something that Dan and Evelyn could do while I was at my conference later in the week.  It was a pretty slow morning at the zoo that morning, and a lot of the animals were in hiding because it was getting pretty warm.  But we did get some pictures!
Evelyn's nanny, Amber, LOVES giraffes - so when we saw this statue, we had to get Evelyn's picture with it for her.
The zoo was pretty small, but really pretty good.  Definitely worth the $35!  After the zoo, we went back to the hotel for a morning nap, then had lunch at Cheeseburger in Paradise.  After lunch, we headed to the Waikiki Aquarium.  It, too, was small - but that was good because Evelyn was getting pretty sleepy and ready for her afternoon nap.
This was a tube filled with jellyfish - Evelyn loved them!
Outside of one of the exhibits, we ran into some other kids.  Evelyn is in the phase where she LOVES seeing other kids and just laughs at them.  I was trying to get a good angle to get her laughing, but there was a lady who apparently couldn't move.  So this is the best I could get!
At some of the exhibits, she would press her little face up to the glass to try to see the fish better.  It was really cute!
We had planned to go to a place called Nico's on Pier 38 for dinner (another yummy suggestion from the Jumer List).  It was a delicious seafood place - I had a grilled swordfish with a sweet thai curry sauce that was amazing.  Yes, we ate well on this trip....thanks to Jumer!

After dinner, Dan took one for the team and played Daddy Day Care so that I could meet up with some of my friends from Purdue.  Two of them, Travis & Bree, had gotten engaged on the top of Diamond Head (ironic, huh?) earlier in the day - and he had rented a limo to take them to dinner.  He had the limo rented for 3 hours, so he arranged for us to all be picked up (including getting one friend at the airport!) so that we could be in the limo when they came back from dinner - all a surprise to Bree!  It was so much fun - and awesome to get to celebrate this special night with them!  Here we are in the limo with our Nico's to go cups filled with champagne to celebrate (they forgot to get cups, and they picked me up from dinner with Dan and Evelyn, so I was in charge of cups...but not ice).
Congratulations Travis & Bree!!
A picture of the Waikiki skyline at night...
This picture doesn't do it justice - but it was taken with my phone, so...
