Painting Pumpkins

I bought some pumpkins for Evelyn to paint, but our evenings have been busy lately and we haven't had a chance to paint them.  I told Amber she was welcome to do it with her while I was at work today - it looks like they had fun and Amber got some great pictures!

Hey guys - I'm here, too!

Fall Carnival

One of our local churches has a huge fall carnival every year and this year Evelyn was old enough to enjoy it.  She wasn't a huge fan of the food choices (although I sure enjoyed my turkey leg!), but she loved the rides!  If they didn't cost $5 a piece to ride, we would have let her do more!
First up - a mini-carousel ride with Daddy!

Lilly enjoyed looking at all of the lights
Next up was the "tea cups" with Mommy
(I don't know what else to call them but what they are called at Disneyland!)

I love this picture that Dan got mid-spin!

Home Made Play-Dough

One of the things I love about Amber (there are MANY!) is that she comes up with fun projects for the girls to do while she is with them during the days.  Today is was making play-dough.
Evelyn was in Heaven - getting to scoop, pour, and mix things!
Then getting to play with it!

Pumpkin Patch

We hit the pumpkin patch this weekend.  It's the first weekend that the weather has been less than 90 degrees here in south Texas, so it was kind of fitting.  Granted, it was probably 88 degrees - but we put on jeans and pretended it was chilly out.  Oh to be back where there is real fall weather!
Evelyn thought she needed to lift the pumpkins (that were as big as she is!)
Lilly wasn't too sure about these pumpkins!
Family picture
(nothing says pumpkin patch like a strip mall and a McDonalds int he background...)
Cute girl!
I love love LOVE this picture...
(Good job, Dan!)
Riding in the wagon to bring our pumpkins back to the car
It's a good thing we went today, they sold out of their pumpkins this weekend and closed.  Hopefully the one we picked out won't rot before we can carve it!

Family Fun Night

We went to dinner at Corner Bakery tonight, then went to the mall because I needed to get Evelyn new boots.  It turned into a fun family night at the mall.  We let Evelyn play on the nasty public rides (germs, anyone?) - which she loved (naturally).
She insisted that Daddy join her on this ride!
Then we did the photo booth...so much fun! :-)  Both of the girls' faces crack me up in these!
I love unplanned family fun like this!  It was a nice, no place to go, just hang out night...we need more of these!

Father-Daugher Dance 2013

Our old church did their Father-Daughter dance again this year, so Dan and Evelyn went.  Daddy's date did not take a nap this afternoon, though, so the night was not off to a great start.
"I don't want to curl my hair!"
This probably should have been an indicator of things to come...
Daddy makes everything better!
So do snacks...

Lilly and I stayed home and smiled at each other.
Dan said Evelyn was the ring-leader with the other girls - asking them to dance and swinging around!
Their professional shot at the dance
She lasted through dinner and about 45 minutes of the dance before she crashed hard (apparently, literally as well...she got swung a little too quickly by some bigger girls and hit the ground).  Needless to say, this girl slept well!

Lillian's 3 Month Pictures

Our wonderful photographer once again captured some great shots!  These were officially Lillian's 3 months pictures, but as you can see, we got a good mix of everyone!

Happy 3 Months, Lillian!

Your third month has been a big month for you!  You are still a pretty chill baby - it takes a lot to get you riled up - but when you do get fired up, beware!  This month you started laughing and you have the most adorable chuckle.  Evelyn seems to be the one who brings it out of you the most, but Daddy has found your tickle spot and can get it going that way, too!  You learned to roll from front to back this month and usually do it pretty quickly to get out of doing tummy time.  Sometimes we can keep you on your tummy long enough to get some quality exercise on those neck muscles in, but usually you want to be back on your back.  You started bringing your hands together this month as well, although it's still pretty rigid.  You have started grasping at a rattle and will try to shake it - at least until you smack yourself in the face with it!  You are still nursing like a champ, and even though Mommy went back to work this month, you still prefer nursing over bottles.  You started out ok with bottles, but have since gone on strike and will only eat from Mommy or a syringe.  You are still getting up 3-4 times a night to nurse - although some nights you will stretch that out to 5-6 hours!  (Mommy loves those nights!)  You got your first cold this month...probably because Mommy went back to work and brought back all of her students' germs to you.  Fortunately it didn't linger long with you (Mommy and Evelyn were not so fortunate!).  You are such a happy baby - it take a lot to get you worked up.  You love it when your sister plays with you, and you light up when you hear her (which isn't hard) and especially when you see her.  I hope you two will continue to love each other so!  Happy three months, sweet girl!  I can't believe this much time has already passed!

This is Why Mommy Goes to Church

Getting back to work means getting all of my students' germs.  Yuck.  It took all of 3 days for me to come down with a nasty cold.  Combine this with being back to work full-time, and a newborn who is still getting up at least 3 times a night to nurse - and I am worn out, sick, and tired. :-)  I decided to stay home from church this morning to get some extra rest, and Dan took Evelyn with him.
This is the outfit he chose for her to wear to church.
(I do give him points for the Broncos shirt...however, it's Lillian's onesie - with jeggings.  Awesome)
And this is why Mommies go to church...
Evelyn apparently was playing on a chair in her classroom and fell off.  She bonked her head pretty good (as you can see by the goose egg on her head).  We decided to butterfly it instead of put her through the trauma of stitches - it was right on the borderline of whether stitches would be necessary or not.  Poor girl!
Our chill-y girl, Lilly, just hanging out during the hoopla!
